IOE and TISK to support Australia B20 Human Capital Task Force Chair

IOE’S Brent Wilton and TISK’s Tugrul Kudatgobilik are to support Australian B20 Human Capital Task Force Chair Steve Sargent.

Following the handover of the G20 presidency on 1 December, B20 Australia has confirmed its approach to ensuring the contribution of business to the debates. With four task forces being created to focus on the policy areas of financing growth; human capital; investment and infrastructure; and trade, B20 Australia will support the G20’s overarching goals of promoting growth, creating jobs and building resilience in the global economy.

Building on the progress achieved under the Russian presidency, where IOE member RSPP led the business input, B20 Chairman Richard Goyner confirmed that the four task forces would be chaired by Australian business leaders. IOE Secretary-General Brent Wilton, and TISK President Tugrul Kudatgobilik, have been invited to jointly co-chair the human capital task force under the chairship of Steve Sargent, GE’s CEO for Australia and New Zealand.

Accepting the invitation with great pleasure, Brent Wilton expressed his honour at being asked to continue in the role he had filled under the Russian presidency and said: “I have assured B20 Chair Richard Goyner that the 150 members of the IOE around the world stand ready to support the work of the task force under the Chairship of Steve Sargent in elaborating policy recommendations for the development of human capital, both in the group of 20 countries, and beyond.” Mr Wilton went on to add: “Continuity is key to building on previous successes and the invitation to Tugrul to co-chair the task force will ensure that when the G20 presidency transitions to Turkey for 2015, we will again be taking our policy recommendations forward.”
