Christchurch International Airport

Christchurch International Airport

We believe the South Island is the best place in the world. The best place to visit, live and do business.

We believe, as citizens of the South Island, it's our responsibility and privilege to be caretakers of this very special place. We are passionate about protecting the environment, minimising the use of all natural resources and improving the quality of life for our community.

Our Airport is set on 1,000 hectares of campus, hosting a wide range of businesses that together employ around 6,000 residents of Christchurch city and surrounding areas.

Our approach to sustainability is centred in the Maori concept of kaitiakitanga (responsibility, care and guardianship).

Our focus is to seek out, develop and implement more sustainable processes whereby all change becomes a permanent feature of our business and within the Airport campus. As a business, we understand that if an activity is "green" but puts us in the "red" it is unlikely to be enduring and therefore is not truly sustainable.

We are focused on evolving our business to be enduringly sustainable and we choose to focus our sustainability efforts across five key areas of water, energy, waste, land and noise.

Our strategy provides the framework for how we will grow our organisation in ways that will enrich the lives of our residents and visitors.
