A strong response from NZ businesses

An excellent response from New Zealand businesses has resulted in more than 180 products being nominated for Buy NZ Made’s first ever “People’s Choice Awards”, which are being run in association with TSB Bank.

Owned and run by Business NZ, the Buy NZ Made campaign began in 1988. The campaign was established to encourage people to buy and sell NZ made products, both locally and on the world stage.

The campaign, featuring the iconic kiwi in a triangle logo is celebrating its 25th anniversary. This milestone is one of the driving forces behind the significant nationwide promotion.

“We wanted to come up with an initiative that would showcase the huge range of great products that are made here in New Zealand,” said Buy NZ Made Manager Trina Snow. “It has been fantastic to see so many diverse businesses from throughout the country get involved. We are now encouraging the public to get behind the nominees by choosing their favourite products.”

Public voting is underway to decide the winners in each of the five Awards categories:

  • Most Iconic NZ Made Product/Brand
  • Most Innovative NZ Made Product
  • Best NZ Made Product on the World Stage (Export)
  • Best New Product (Launched in 2012 or 2013)
  • Most Loved New Zealand Made Product

The voting process continues until October 18, and voters are in with a chance to win a NZ Made prize pack and two tickets to attend the Awards evening at SkyCity Convention Centre on Thursday October 31.

The classic Kiwiana-themed event will be a celebration of NZ products, with Gary McCormack as MC, a quality array of New Zealand food and drink, an appearance by J-Geek and The Geeks and a selection of much loved Kiwi music.
